Picture a band that describes themselves as “5 freaks making sounds in the city”. You’d think a whole host of things about a statement like that… and they would be wrong. PERSON(A) is a hardcore punk band at its core and their previous 12”, ‘Free Your Mind’, is exactly that. “Perfection’, on the other hand, is the product of taking their own advice by freeing up the constraints of the genre considerably. Mind you it is still protest hardcore in every way but the tones have changed to reflect the darkness of the world into which we are collectively descending. That being said the record also acknowledges the role of hope, resolve, steadfastness, a sense of history and place, whatever you wanna call it, in the growing resistance movements throughout the oppressed world. Evolve and protest! Yes.

‘Perfection’ is inspired by the long and unending fight for dignity and agency at home in so-called NYC and across the world as the putrid stink of fascism rises. Austerity, repression, and alienation require immediate resistance that proliferates like dandelions through cracks in the sidewalk. The music we make and the community we have built are a small part of a larger effort to propagate a thriving culture of resistance.

Dedicated to all who oppose fascism and fight for a free life across time and borders.
