‘The ruse it, Confuses Cruel and, It uses, Oh so cold, Watch your head!’ (Secret Futures)

Sacramento’s False Flowers return with a new two track 7-inch hot on the heels of last year’s self-titled debut album.  They continue to forge a catchy blend of death rock propulsion and post-punk melancholy.  At the same time, the strident vocals revel equally in a sense of gothic drama and a rich pop sensibility.

The title track is bathed in a darkly lush melodicism to counter its rather icier sentiments.  Before, the flipside sees the band give full rein to those poppier instincts with a memorable reworking of Beat My Guest, first recorded by Adam And The Ants in 1981 as the b-side to Stand And Deliver.
