Jacksonville’s Love Canal began life as the solo project of their vocalist and have since evolved to a four-piece for this their debut vinyl releases.  What has emerged is, perhaps, more fully formed than those early demos, but that coherency has not come at the expense of the anarchic spirit that has always defined the project’s noise infused, crust inclined hardcore.

Ideas flare and disappear with indecent haste.  Those that hang around are mashed together with a frenetically off-kilter abandon.  The vocals are spewed forth in an urgently strangled sneer amid flares of dissonant melody and rumbling bass lines.  And everything is saturated in a louche insouciance that only Florida’s humidity could induce.

As a result, when the opening of the frantic Land Of Hate orders us to ‘Shut Up and listen’, it is a call worth heeding.  Each of the five tracks fizzes with an unhinged vitality that can’t but seize your attention.  The woozy grooves of Scum segue into the neanderthal stomp of Canadian Bacon, while the catchily surging Measure Of Insecurity provides a rousing climax to the chaos.
