Tennessee’s Gumm take their full-length bow and carry it off with a thoroughly well-crafted aplomb.  Cues are taken from the ‘Revolution Summer’ era but are injected with an urgent, bristling anger that relentlessly pushes and pulls for dominance with the band’s more melodic instincts.  Thematically, the album examines how social forces seek to limit people’s life ambitions and ferment division (Slogan Machine, Mirror), while recognising that we can often be complicit in not resisting this process (Free) and longing to see resistance grow (A New World Grows Old).
