Every new Cloud Rat release provides good reason to be excited.  While you know the cornerstone sound – feral grindcore velocity – will be unchanged, you also know that the band will undoubtedly take it to new demonically contorted places.  And Threshold does exactly that.

A myriad of differing musical influences from blackened hardcore and shoegaze melancholy to sludgy doom are seamlessly fused to the band’s grindcore bedrock.  The pacing dynamics are superbly marshalled, the passages of quieter melodic reflection offering an amplifying respite to the wider sonic savagery.  Lyrically, the focus is on our experience of time, and more specifically, how it can ferment emotions of isolation and paranoia.  Viscerally compelling.
